- Add tab ‘ The Resilience Project’ in our programs
‘The Resilience project was founded by a primary school teacher – Hugh van Cuylenburg. It delivers emotionally engaging programs to schools and early childhood services, providing practical, evidence-based, positive mental health strategies to build resilience and create happiness.
The project supports children to form evidence-based habits that will increase their capacity to deal with challenges, changes and stressors now and in the future. The activities in the Resilience Project Early Years program are focused on four positive mental health strategies:
Gratitude – Paying attention to the things that we have right now, and not worrying about what we don’t have. We practise this by noticing the positives that exist around us.
Empathy – Putting ourselves in the shoes of others to allow us to feel the feelings of others. We practise this by being kind and compassionate towards other people.
Mindfulness – Intentional awareness generated by paying attention to a whole experience; being present in the moment and exploring what is helpful for you.
Emotional Literacy – Our ability to label our emotions as we experience them. Labelling our emotions helps to manage our emotions (soften negative emotions and find positive emotions). We practise this by labelling emotions as we experience them though out our day.
The Resilience Project curriculum has been designed by educators to be able to deliver the delivery of the curriculum through 20 sessions, one session per week. To assist, session plans and activities have been designed to be easily followed and include comprehensive resources and a range of practical activities to ensure an enjoyable experience. Services can deliver sessions in their entirety or pick and choose activities based on the group of children they are working with.
